Ways to Conserve Electricity
At Western Tire Recyclers, we recycle OTR tires into rubber chips and tire water tanks to help the environment. We realize that the average Joe doesn’t recycle tires everyday, but there are other things you can do to help the environment. There are simple things that people can do every day to help conserve electricity. We’ve put together a short list of how you can.
Unplug When Not in Use
We all probably leave our phone charger, kitchen appliances, and other items plugged into outlets, even when we’re not using them. Did you know that they are still drawing minuscule amounts of energy? Try to start unplugging items when they are not in use.
Open Up Your Windows
Out of habit, many people set their climate control units to a certain temperature and let it do it’s thing. There are many evenings when the weather is nice out. If you turn off your AC and open up your windows, you can use the nice breeze to help keep your house cool. On the other hand, make sure your windows and doors are shut tightly when you are running the AC.
Only Run the Dishwasher with Full Loads
Your dishwasher will use the same amount of water whether you have 5 dishes in it, or have it completely full. If you really need that one or two dishes to be clean, go ahead and hand wash them.
Grill Your Meals Outside During Summer
Every time you use your oven, it heats up your home and your AC has to work to cool your house back down. If you grill your meals during the summer, you keep all that heat outside and your AC doesn’t have to work overtime.
By doing a few of these simple things, you can do your part to reduce and help the environment. If you also happen to have any OTR tires, contact Western Tire Recyclers at 435-730-1872 with your OTR tire recycling needs.
